The Backyard
The Backyard is the metaphorical jungle gym of improv where you can fall on your butt and get back up. We want to give improv performers a supportive, intentional space to explore the skills they’ve learned in class, try different formats, and work with different scene partners.
If you’ve wanted to work towards becoming a house team at Unscrewed Theater, this is the place to do it. Get onstage and sharpen your tools. Practice what works and learn from what doesn’t.
Teams
If you have a team and want to play, submit the form below. Teams will be randomly chosen from all the requests submitted; we will contact you by email if your team name gets pulled for a spot.
No team
If you don’t have a team, you can still come to the show and pop your name in our fishbowl. We’ll have a few 5-minute spots available at the end of the show where we’ll pull out 2-3 names from the bowl and those people will do an open “Come Play with Me” set where they will be given a suggestion and have 5 minutes to explore it.
The show will be about 75 minutes long with no intermission.
Laughing is good. Interesting is even better. No running with scissors or punching down. Let’s all play nice.
How do I sign up to play?
Please submit the form below with your team’s information. If you want to do only the “Come Play with Me” set, please get to the theater by 9pm to enter your name in the bucket.
We can’t guarantee a spot to everyone who submits a form, as teams will be chosen randomly.
Tickets?
Tickets are Pay What You Will, with all proceeds staying right here at Unscrewed Theater.
You can give cash or a card to our volunteer up front, or you can use your phone to donate via Venmo or our support page to help us keep the lights on.
