The only thing that is constant is change, and there’s always more to learn! While our theater and our shows have had to change and evolve lately, we remain true to our mission.
And now you can stream our live shows from anywhere! From our roots as an itinerant improv troupe longing for our forever home, we keep the vision that has held us together since 2002.

Mission Statement
Unscrewed Theater is dedicated to teaching and showcasing the art of improvisational theater as well as other unique forms of live entertainment. We foster a safe and supportive atmosphere in which artists can grow and explore their talent. We provide a venue to showcase these talents as to enrich our community through the art.
Volunteer
Unscrewed Theater is volunteer-run. No matter your skills or talents, we’d love to have you join our community of comedy lovers. Full-time. Part-time. Any time.

The Story of a Theater
In the style of “Whose Line is it Anyway,” Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed has been making Tucson laugh since 2002. In 2014, we opened Unscrewed Theater, Tucson’s premiere non-profit community theater dedicated to Improv Comedy.
Working without a script, we create fast-paced games and scenes based on audience participation and suggestions. Every show is different because we never know what you’ll throw at us!
You can bring the whole family to see our all-ages 7:30 shows EVERY Friday & Saturday night, or turn off your filters for our 17+ UNCENSORED shows!
Two more house teams have now joined NBOJU – From The Top and Comic Chaos. The Improv Funny has just begun.
We’re thrilled to throw our door open wide once more – to laugh together. As nature intended.

On Stage
House Team Shows
Every weekend, we have shows featuring one or more of our House Teams.
Family-friendly every Friday & Saturday at 7:30pm MST featuring Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed and From The Top (1st Friday).
Family-friendly at 6pm MST on the 3rd Saturday of the month with Comic Chaos.
Uncensored (17 and up) at 9pm MST on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month with Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed and on the 1st Friday of the Month with From The Top.
Themed Shows
From time to time, we create a show with a specific theme, like our Laugh With Pride show, Into The Unscrewed-iverse: Nerd’s Night Out, and May the Farce Be With You.

As each of our Improv Basics and ImprovBlox classes end, the students perform a Showcase to show off what they’ve learned.

Other Shows
Unscrewed Fridays After Dark is our monthly improv (and more) variety show where the format could be anything at all – a mix of stand-up, sketch, and improv, or FADtalks, or even something brand new. Every 2nd Friday at 9pm MST.
Carousel is our newest show, showcasing innovative improv ideas and remixed concepts for a rotating blend of fun. It’s also the stage on which potential House Teams will audition with 3 month residencies. Every 3rd Friday at 9pm MST.
Make Me Laugh! is our improv game show on the 4th Friday at 9pm. Three contestants tackle improv prompts and quick wit challenges to impress The Judge and the audience!
The Backyard happens twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, at 9pm MST and is open to any improv performer/team looking for stage time and is a great launchpad for teams seeking to become Unscrewed Theater House Teams.
Active Imagination Theatre
Several times a year, we have holiday-themed interactive shows with Active Imagination Theatre. Bring the kids, and they’ll get to be part of the show!
